So I’m coming up on my 29th birthday in 2 weeks and I started thinking about how different I pictured my life 10 years ago..

When I started dating my husband at the age of 19, I was all about fulfilling societies “womanly duties” before 30. I wanted to be married by 24, start having kids at 26, have the white picket fence home, etc. I didn’t really care about a career, but just being a house wife and stay-at-home mom.

Well, I did get married at 24 and during our honeymoon in Paris, I caught the travel bug. This was also around the time Instagram started and I was working my way into the blogging industry. Since then my priorities changed to wanting more of a career and traveling with my husband, rather then children. And I couldn’t be happier!

A skincare company called SK-II did a recent survey and it was unbelievable to hear how there are still so many women in the world feeling pressured to have accomplished certain things by a certain age. Only 3 percent of Japanese women under the age of 30 feel comfortable about turning 30 and across Asia, women are thought to be in the prime of their life in their 20’s while for men it’s in their 30’s (What constitutes prime for men is financial stability, while for women it is their peak physical appearance.)

I definitely think the society has changed over the decades and women are feel more empowered and independent than ever. However, this survey proves their are still women who need to feel encouraged and uplifted …

I personally have not felt the pressure to live by anyone else’s standards and I feel very blessed to be surrounded by supportive people. And honestly the older I get, the more satisfied I feel about myself (occasional pep talks with myself on staying fit haha) and what I’ve accomplished so far. I believe everyone has their own purpose in life though and I want to encourage women that there is no exact recipe or timeline to follow in order to be happy and love your life.

How about you guys? Do you feel pressured and like your running out of time? I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts!

Thanks to SK-II for collaborating on this post and thank you guys for reading!
