During Fashion Week, I got to visit my mentor and friend, Ashley Brooke Perryman, backstage! She is THE hair and makeup artist of Charleston and the director of Charleston Fashion Week’s H&MU Team! Definitely one of the sweetest people you will ever meet.
I met her 2 years ago when I auditioned to be part of the team and I was so honored to be mentored by her and work beside her. She’s a team player, patient, knowledgable and kind.. I truly can’t say enough good things about this woman.
And now she has her own lipstick line! Ashley really knows her stuff when it comes to lipsticks. She has always mixed the perfect shades. Her work has been on the cover of so many magazines, including; The Knot and Charleston Weddings. Not to mention all the other commercial work she’s done for big clients. And I know I haven’t been the only one in the industry to wonder-how does she create that perfect lip color?! Well, now we know 😉

Lip touch up by Ashley Brooke Perryman, wearing “Woke Up Like This” from her new lip sheer line!
Ashley used “Woke Up Like This” on me since she knows how much I love a good nude lip. The first thing I noticed about the lipstick was how soft it felt! Lipsticks can sometimes feel very chalky-especially for me since my lips are usually chapped.
Another thing I noticed was that the color wasn’t completely sheer, rather than natural looking on the lips. It was perfect for me because if I’m going to use lipstick, it’s usually to add color. These lipsticks give you the perfect amount! I also feel like they provide enough sheen where you don’t have to use a lipgloss on top! Perfect for applying straight from the tube for a “gal on the go”!
I also have the shade ” Wifey” which has a more coral hue then the mauve-y WULT. I cannot stop using them on myself or my brides. You definitely have to get this line if you are in the makeup business-especially weddings!
Hope you all had a great Cinco De Mayo and have a wonderful weekend!!
